My Empowerment Is For Poverty Alleviation-Abdul-Razak

The member representing Ibadan South East Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Abdul-Razak, popularly called Omo Sheu has disclosed that his recent empowerment was aimed at reducing poverty among his constituents.

Abdul-Razak disclosed this during the graduation of artisans under his foundation, which took place at Wesley College, Elekuro Ibadan.

Omo Sheu, during a chat with journalists at the event which was attended by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some members of state house of assembly, stated that he was touched by the lives of the low income earners and that it was meant to fulfill part of his electioneering campaign promises.

Chairman of the PDP in the constituency, Mr. Sulaiman Adekunle, while speaking at the event disclosed that the empowerment was aimed at reducing crime in the area notable as one of the notorious areas in Ibadanland.

“You know this is the headquarters of one million boys and if we are able to engage them in meaningful vocations they will not have time to cause trouble in the area.”

“We also thank Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for creating an enabling environment to create jobs for the people,” he said.

Also speaking, Hon. (Barrister) Fatai Adesina said that he was happy that Hon. Abdul-Razaq was able to imbibe the spirit of given, most especially during the Yuletide.

He however, charged the beneficiaries of the empowerment to make good use of the tools given to them.

Omo Sheu commended the beneficiaries for taken time to undergo the various trainings to make them stand on their own without depending on others for survival.

“I want to assure you that this is just a tip of the iceberg, more will still come and I will ensure that poverty is totally eradicated in our community,” he said.

While thanking the Governor for creating the opportunity for him to do the empowerment, he urged those that were not part of the empowerment to be patient, promising that another one was in the pipeline.

91 individuals were given tools for various vocations including hair dressing, 21, fashion designing, 41, computer engineering, 12, Make up artiste, 8, Nylon cutting, 5, show making, 2 while barbing also had 2 beneficiaries.
