Why We Are Giving Out Fuel Palliatives To 120 Million Nigerians-Prophet Nkiru
Prophet Godwin Nkiru of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry Egbeda, Akowonjo, Lagos, has said that the church would be giving out fuel palliatives to 120 million Nigerians to make life better for the masses due to the prevailing economic situation in the country.
Prophet Nkriru, who began the project on Saturday August 26, 2023 in Ikeja, Lagos, said during the giving out of fuel to some residents of Surulere area of Lagos on Wednesday, said that he decided to ease the pains of the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said was done in the interest of the people, through this gesture.
“My target is the people, you can see the motorcyclists, Keke NAPEP drivers, drivers of commercial buses, private cars owners, and others coming out to get free fuel. The vision is to reach about 120 million Nigerians across the country.
“I love the government and I love the people because human beings need help, and they need support. I noticed that Lagos State is a busy place and one of the means of movement is transportation.
“So, I know that people need it so much. What I am doing is to help Nigerians, not because I need anything from the government, it’s because of the love I have for the people and I would continue to do it because my love for the people is greater than the love I have for the government,” he said.
The cleric explained that there is no discrimination in the distribution, adding that it’s being done with a pure heart, and that they give to every tribe as they were all created by God.
He added that the church would go round all the 36 states in the country, and that there would be no limit as it would be a continuous exercise, while stressing that it is being financed by his church in Lagos.
A beneficiary, Mr. Chuka Nneji, a motorcycle rider, expressed happiness over the gesture and prayed that God will bless the church.
Nneji then urged the government to follow suit as he said that it has not been easy for the Nigerians since fuel subsidy was removed.
A dispatch rider, who simply gave his name as Valentine, said that someone just called him to come and collect fuel, adding that he was happy with the development.
“This one would help me to run the motorcycle for sometime. May God bless the people behind this. The Government should also do something for us. We are really suffering. We cannot continue like this.
“We need the support of the government to survive. Nigeria has become so difficult after the removal of fuel subsidy,” he said.
In his comment, Mr Dickson Taiwo, a motorist, also said that it is a good gesture that should be emulated by rich Nigerians.
Taiwo then said that the government should rise to the occasion and come up with gestures like this if a church could come up with such an initiative.
Festus Ejike Eme, a dispatch rider, who also expressed happiness over the gesture, stated that it was surprising that a church could do this for the people.
A commercial bus driver, Victor Nkechi, said that it has not been easy for those in transport business, adding that something must be done urgently to address the current situation in Nigeria.
A female resident of the area, who gave her name as Josephine, expressed happiness that she got five litres to fill her generating set, while stating that the
government should also assist the people.
This was supported by another young lady, Ebube Helen, who then thanked the people behind the gesture “for what they are doing for the masses.”
