Why Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide Is At War With Pdp Leaders In The South West

Nigeria’s Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide appears to be treading on, where she might not be able to stand firm, and by the time the matter is further blown open, it might be too late for the woman to beat a retreat.
It was reliably gathered last week that Olajumoke, a daughter of a veteran politician, Chief Richard Akinjide has been making moves to ensure that an in-law of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, who also happens to be a former vice-chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Professor Salaudeen is made a Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
She is said to have contacted notable persons to secure the job for the man, and we learnt that the accomplished educationist is yet to be cleared by the senate and that he is yet to be sworn-in, this, top PDP leaders find difficult to comprehend and are alleging party betrayal.
It is on record that Olajumoke also facilitated the inclusion of her father amongst the delegates of the Federal Government to the just concluded constitutional conference in Abuja against the party’s hierarchy’s insistence on younger and equally talented Ibadan man.
Sources however told us that Olajumoke might not succeed in her new venture as major stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party, especially in the South West, now see her as a traitor, who is hobnobbing with the All Progressives Congress (APC), the major opposition party in the country.
The woman is said to be at war with stakeholders of the PDP in Oyo State over what impeccable sources disclosed to be her penchant for flaunting her pedigree and in the entire south west; she is even said to be at loggerheads with a leader of the party in the region, Chief Kasham Buruji, whom she said she could never take orders from because of her background.
“Her husband, Ahman Pategi, who is a member of the Federal House of Representatives from Kwara State, is gunning for the governorship seat of the state under the APC, while she is a strong member of the PDP. PDP members feel she could no longer represent the interest of the party and they are looking for ways to frustrate her out of the party, she cannot be claiming to be PDP in her office and presiding over APC matters in her home,” said a reliable source.
Olajumoke is a member of the committee setup by the Federal Government to review the reports of the just-concluded confab and we were told that she is not finding things easy in the PDP anymore and that her exit is a matter of time.
Olajumoke and her hubby, Pategi are living as husband and wife, but they both belong to two political parties as ‘Jumoke is a member of the PDP, while her husband, who hails from Lafiaji in Kwara State is a member of the APC.
“Jumoke is outspoken, but her husband is very quiet, which is why people hear about her more, while only a little is heard about her hubby. They are living happily, and they both have children together. Their political differences have not separated them and I can tell you that things are working right for them,” said a source close to her.
Jumoke is said to be a master’s degree holder in law, and she reportedly studied in one of the best universities in the United Kingdom, she is also said to be very brilliant, which is why people feel the likes of former governor Alao Akala of Oyo State and Teslim Folarin could not stand her. Her influence, we gathered, also lies in the fact that her father is a member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP.
But sources close to the leaders of the PDP in the South West insisted that Olajumoke would soon be shown the way out of the party as the countdown to the 2015 elections begins.
