Vision For Diamond Estate Rooted In Belief That Everyone Deserves A Place To Call Home –Alhassan …Says We’re Paving Way For Improved Living Standards
A south Africa based philanthropist and founder of Affluence Childcare Hope Foundation, Alhaji Abbas Alhassan, has said that the proposed Diamond Estate will bring development to Iyerekhu, Etsako west, Edo State, when completed.
Alhassan added at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new estate
on December 27, 2024 that the idea of the estate was conceived for a vibrant community, a space where dreams will flourish, families will thrive, and a sense of belonging will be cultivated, saying that the vision for the estate is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home.
“Some people might be asking the question: why invest in Iyerekhu, South Ibie, when you can invest your money elsewhere and get better returns. My answer is this quote by Ayn Rand that “Throughout the centuries there were men who took the first steps, down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision.
“As we gather here today, we are not simply marking the start of a construction project; we are laying the foundation for a vibrant community, a space where dreams will flourish, families will thrive, and a sense of belonging will be cultivated. This estate symbolizes our collective vision for a modern living environment, where comfort, accessibility, and community spirit converge to create a sanctuary for all residents,” he said.
Alhassan stated that so many people from the community living in the diaspora will like to come home, but that they are unable to do so due to lack of security, unstable electricity and poor health facilities.
He said: “In addition, our illustrious children who retire from employment do not return home because of lack of facilities they are used to enjoying in their places of residence. I have had the experience of my personal house being vandalism several times and the latest theft just happened as we speak with all the electrical wires removed from the building by an unknown person.
“The vision for Diamond Estate is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home—a place that fosters a sense of security, belonging, and connection to others.
“As we embark on this journey, we must recognize not only the physical structures that will rise from the ground but also the lives that will be transformed within them.
“This estate will feature a school, hospital, gym, sporting facilities, guest house and recreational park designed to enhance the quality of life for all residents. But beyond just infrastructure, we are building a community rooted in shared values, respect, and cooperation.
“The country is challenged by inadequate security, poor infrastructure, lack of clean water and inadequate power supply which this estate will address.
“In addition to the public water supply, each property will be powered by solar and a standby generator, thereby guaranteeing a 24 hours power supply.”
He then thanked those that have played a part in bringing the vision to life including “our partners, investors, and local government, your support has been invaluable. Together, we are paving the way for economic growth, job creation, and improved living standards in Iyerekhu, South Ibie.”
Diamond Estate, he said, has already provided employment to several people and when fully built will provide jobs to over 100 people, thereby helping to address the unemployment in the community and stemming rural urban migration of the youths.
“To the project manager, architects, builders, and all the laborers who will be involved in this project, your expertise and dedication are critical in shaping this community. We trust that you will deliver not just a house, but homes filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
“As we break ground today, let us remember that this moment signifies more than just dirt and concrete; it is a commitment to our future, a promise to ourselves and our families that we can create a space that is not just a place to live but a true community.
“In closing, I invite each of you to become active participants in the development of Diamond Estate. Your ideas, suggestions, and community spirit will help make this estate not only a physical reality but a reflection of who we are as a people.
“Let us celebrate this groundbreaking as the start of an exciting journey toward building a better future together. Thank you all for your presence today and your unwavering belief in the potential of Iyerekhu,” he stated.
