Vice President Osinbajo, Sheds Light on Kano Power Sector
By Adamu Aminu, Kano.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday emphasised the need to get the private sector involved with government to bring power to Kano State.
Prof. Osinbajo stated this while receiving the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture led by its president, Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Vice President spokesman, Laolu Akande.
According to him, “If we can bring a substantial amount of investment in power to Kano, we can really make a difference. So, I am looking forward to working with you on power,”
He said closer collaboration between KACCIMA and the Federal Government is very important to economically move the state and Nigeria forward.
“Anyone who understands the history of business in Nigeria cannot in any way diminish the importance of the Kano business community,’’ said the statement.
In the statement, Osinbajo said when the country started the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, in engaging the partnership that will move the initiative forward, Lagos and Kano had to be the two focal points for the implementation of the reform plans.
The statement added that the Vice President said the regular interface between the private sector and the Federal Government would continue because of their contribution to the development of the economy, especially in creating employment.
Osinbajo assured that the federal government would do everything possible to support the business community in Kano.
