Uncovered: Felix Obuah’s Alleged Record of Cult Violence In Rivers State

Published

That violence has escalated since Hon. Felix Obuah became the Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through a judicial proclamation did not come as a surprise to many who are conversant with the antecedents of this former Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, and owner of Krisdera Hotel and Resorts, Omoku and major contractor to Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd. His association and complicity in cult related activities is common knowledge in his native Omoku, which is the headquarters of the LGA. His penchant for brute force to have his way in politics dates back to the days of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) and no other person can attest more to this fact than the former Rivers PDP Chairman, Chief G.U. Ake who experienced firsthand the violent acts of the politician.
His association with cult groups in his native Omoku has reportedly greatly assisted his business and this a source disclosed goes back to when the oil multinationals (particularly Nigerian Agip Oil Co) within the area were intimidated with the aid of these cultists through the various youth associations. Now it appears using this same mechanism of coercion has been extended to the political terrain and the resultant rise in politically induced cult related abductions, kidnappings and murders.
We gathered that recent events in Omoku have shown that the bad times are here again for the people just because the man will not suffer any contrary political opinion gladly.
Interestingly, Dr. Peter Odili hails from this same local government area and his daughter is married to one of the sons of Oba (EZE-OGBA) of Ogbaland, HRM, Chukwumela Nnam Obi 11. The relationship between Nyesom Wike, who is the anointed governorship candidate of the first family with Felix Obuah, has allegedly hampered any uncompromised and untainted intervention of security agencies in the crisis.
Various sources interviewed in the course of our investigations disclosed that the recent killing of certain individuals in Omoku and the resultant crisis is a continuation of a streak and history of violence and intolerance to opposing views by Hon. Felix Obuah.
We gathered that residents are relocating now from this once peaceful commercial town just because some people believe everyone must see all issues from their own point of view. The importance of this area cannot be overemphasized because it is a major hub of the oil and gas industry in the country being host to two oil centers and two gas plants of AGIP and TOTAL.
Our sources further added that for a man, who has had a fair share of violence visited on him with the well reported attempt to kill him in front of his hotel sometime in 2009 that resulted in the death of one of the mobile policemen attached to him, it is expected that he should espouse peaceful co-existence rather than turn his community to a war zone.
Our sources wondered and lamented what the fate of the ordinary person will be in the coming weeks preceding the elections as he is known to be at the vanguard of the Nyesom Wike’s gubernatorial aspiration.
