Tinubu Restores Nigerian History Back To School Curriculum Immediately
President Tinubu has directed the reinstatement of Nigerian History as a subject in primary and secondary schools, starting next year, according to Minister of Education Tunji Alausa.
Nigerian History was removed from the school curriculum by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.
This move was widely criticized, with many arguing that it would lead to a lack of understanding and appreciation for the country’s rich history and cultural heritage.
The reintroduction of Nigerian History as a subject aims to address this issue and promote a sense of national identity and pride among young Nigerians.
As Asiwaju Tinubu once emphasized, “any nation which forgets its past has lost a beacon to guide its actions”
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, made this known in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, stating that the Nigerian Government is committed to ensuring that the subject is taught in all primary and secondary schools across the country.
This move is expected to have a positive impact on the education system and help shape the minds of future generations.
In a similar development, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had previously directed the reintroduction of History as a subject in schools, revoking the policy introduced by Obasanjo’s administration.
The current administration’s decision to reinstate Nigerian History as a subject is a further testament to the importance of preserving and promoting the country’s cultural heritage.
