Only 10 of the APC governors honoured the invitation and according to sources, the attendees led by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State were non-committal to the aspiration of the Vice President and reportedly told him their only interest was seeing the APC as governing party beyond 2023.
Since Tinubu formally informed President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2021 of his intention to seek the number one job in Nigeria, he has embarked on nationwide tour of consultations to top traditional rulers, especially in his South West region.
The tour had taken him to Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo states where he met with influential traditional rulers. The APC national leader has also met with the National Assembly Caucus of the APC in both chambers where the federal legislators assured him of support.
In Abuja, Asiwaju Tinubu has met with cross section of party leaders and senior citizens across Nigeria to share his vision of Nigeria and his motivation for seeking the presidency which according to him is to serve and help the country to greater prosperity for all.
The former Lagos State Governor was in Kaduna last week to commiserate with the victims of the recent terror attack on a Kaduna bound train and show solidarity with the government and people of Kaduna State.
During the visit, Governor Nasir El Rufai told Tinubu he was aware of his presidential ambition with a promise of further consultation on how the presidential project will be actualised.
