Founder of the defunct All States Trust Bank, His Royal Majesty, King Ebitimi Emmanuel Banigo, Okpo XXI, lbenyanaowei of Okpoama Kingdom in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has resigned from his duty as king.

In a shocking announcement, the former Managing Director of defunct International Merchant Bank (IMB), who was crowned The lbenyanaowei of Okpoama, on October 2012, cited health reasons, and said he will resign with effect from July 31, 2024.
Banigo, who has been dealing with health challenges, expressed his regret over his inability to spend more time in the Kingdom and address the pressing issues faced by the people. He said the health challenges have made it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his duties effectively and had required him to be absent from the Kingdom for an extended period of time.
In his message to the people of Okpoama Kingdom, Banigo expressed his gratitude for the honor of being their King and acknowledged the privilege of ruling over their ancient kingdom. He also thanked God for the opportunity to contribute to the development of Okpoama Kingdom and the preservation of their rich culture.
Banigo assured the people that despite stepping down from his royal position, he will continue to be actively involved in the development of the Kingdom and the preservation of their cultural heritage. He called for unity and collaboration from the people, emphasizing that together they can transform Okpoama Kingdom into the land of their dreams.
Meanwhile, according to tradition, the search to choose a new Ibenyanaowei from the ruling houses will commence immediately. The elected candidate will be crowned as Okpo XXII.
