Sudan cannot stop Flying Eagles from next year’s U-20 AFCON – Amuneke
Head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 team, Emmanuel Amuneke, has said his team is well prepared for the final qualification game for next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations against Sudan.
Amuneke vowed that Sudan cannot stop his ambition to qualify the Flying Eagles for the tournament.
“Our journey (to Zambia 2017) is in the hands of God,” he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“As human beings, we can only work hard to be able to do our best in every single game with the utmost desire to win and qualify for the 2017 CAF U-20 Nations Cup in Zambia.
“No doubt, Sudan could offer a stiff resistance. That means we have to be mindful of the fact the game will be tough because it is the last qualification game but I think we have all it takes to win and go through.”
The first leg of the fixture will be played in Omdurma on July 8, while Nigeria hosts the return leg two weeks later.
“Sudan did not play any before reaching this stage of the qualification race,” Amuneke, who led the Golden Eaglets to glory at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, said.
“All their previous rounds opponents withdrew from the race so it is difficult getting any real dossier on them.
“But then, we have to work hard and prepare very well for the game because not getting any information about your opponent prior to a game can only inspire you to work harder.”
