Speakership: Two Lagos Assembly Lawmakers Detained By DSS

Two members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Lanre Afinni and Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu are currently being detained at the DSS office in the State.
According to sources from the House, the two are facing interrogation in connection with the removal of Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker.
Obasa was removed as Speaker by the majority of the members on January 13 and replaced with the former Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.
The two lawmakers were allegedly detained for breaking into a store in the House, where the mace was kept so that the lawmakers could sit to effect the impeachment of the embattled former speaker of the House.
In solidarity with their colleagues, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Mojeed Fatai with some other members of the House were said to have stormed the DSS office to secure their release.
