Former Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has advised Nigerians from different religious beliefs to redefine and solidify their relationship with God so as to make positive contributions to the service of God and humanity in general.

Obasanjo gave this admonition, while speaking as a special guest during a special Sunday service organized by the Glorious Life Pentecostal Church Adigbe, Abeokuta tagged; “Special Glorious Sunday.”

The former president, while reminding the congregation about the real fall of man, quoting from the book of Genesis said, “And God called Adam and said where are you?” Does the omnipotent and omnipresence not know where Adam was? Didn’t God see them where they were?”

Speaking further, the elder statesman said “whatever you may say, whatever you may do and try to hide and you think God doesn’t see you or what you are doing. What exactly is God asking you, it is your relationship with Him and your fellow human beings. What you are as husband to your wife, your community and your state.

“Some of us will say that church is all about prayer and say amen with a belief that there is work a congregation could render to God, then think about it.”

Speaking about his one year experience in India, while on course as a military officer in 1965, he said that Indians coexist peacefully till date inspite of their different religious beliefs.

While appreciating the church for the honour done to him as a special guest and preacher, he said, “when I was invited for this programme, I didn’t expect that Pastor Samson Ogin will speak about the relationship between us and what we have done to serve God and humanity. If you serve humanity well, then you are serving God.”

Earlier, while welcoming the former president to the church at the special service, the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Samson Ogin described Olusegun Obasanjo as “a blessing to Nigeria because he usually handles Nigeria’s problem like his personal problem.

“Baba has done well. He is a father of Africa and I never regret working with him for more than two decades during which he taught me good things that I still enjoy till date.”
