Nigerian lawyer and activist, Mr. Kayode Ajulo has said that the embattled Afrobeat musician, Mr Seun Kuti needed help over his reported assault of a police officer over the weekend.

It will be recalled that a viral video surfaced online on Saturday showing, where the singer repeatedly slapped a Police Inspector.

But rather than retaliate, the Inspector of Police kept mute and accepted the assault.

The video caused a riot on the social media, with angry Nigerians calling for the arrest and prosecution of Kuti.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba subsequently ordered Seun’s arrest.

Seun later reported himself to the police on Monday and he is said to be in detention at the moment.

Ajulo said in a statement that Seun Kuti needed to seek psychological help on anger management and other related issues.

He urged concerned members of the public to ensure that Seun shows remorse and tender unreserved apology to the Nigeria Police Force, the victim and the entire people of Nigeria.

“He should seek proper legal advice on what he understands as human rights, and protect his interest in the circumstance.

“Watching Seun’s clip is like watching what brought up #Endsars movement playing in reverse mode.

“We cannot claim to be the victim and still appear to be the villain at the same time.

“We must also enjoin the Nigeria Police to be civil in this regard to not take the law into their own hands by molesting Seun Kuti.

“Above all, we should allow the law to take its course, afterall heaven won’t fall,” he said.
