The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Seun Faleye, alongside his management team, today paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), seeking to enroll the Nigeria Police Force into the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS). This collaboration is aimed at enhancing the welfare and safety of police officers by ensuring that their well-being is protected through a robust compensation system, especially in cases of work-related injuries, disabilities, or death.

During the visit, Faleye emphasized the critical need for police officers, who are often on the frontlines of national security, to be covered under the NSITF’s scheme. He stated that enrolling the force into the ECS would provide a necessary safety net for officers and their families, adding that the program would ensure prompt compensation and support for those who may suffer in the line of duty.

The IGP, in response, committed the Nigeria Police Force to full compliance with the Employees’ Compensation Scheme. He underscored the importance of safeguarding the welfare of police personnel, expressing his readiness to support NSITF’s mission. The IGP also promised enforcement support to ensure that the NSITF’s mandate is upheld across various sectors.

“The police force will play its role in making sure that officers are adequately protected, and for the enforcement drive, you can count on us all the way,” the IGP remarked. He further reiterated that the police would work closely with the NSITF to ensure that the scheme is implemented effectively, contributing to the overall welfare of officers and ensuring their needs are prioritized.
