Salaudeen Najimdeen Cautions Nigerians From Indulging In Dubious Means To Make Money
Alhaji Salaudeen Najimdeen Amala is the Founder and President of An-Najihun Islamic Organisation, in his New Year message spoke about issues relating to governance and urged the people to assist one another in this era of general hardship. The cleric spoke with Kunle Bakare in an interview.
There is no doubt that there is hardship in the country and the suffering is too much, what measures do you think the government and the people can do to get reduce this?
I will start by telling you that the research has shown that the hardship is not only in Nigeria, but is all over the world based on the price of crude oil and petroleum. We need prayers to avert this harsh economy because it tells much on Nigerians. Infact a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet.
Number one thing I want the people to know is that the present situation is the design of God. If we believe this, our people will not look for money in dubious means. Secondly, the government should do their own part by giving palliatives to the people to cushion the effect of the hardship. I am using this medium to tell the government to know that it is God that put them in the position they occupy. Thirdly, the masses should assist themselves. I mean the rich should remember the less privileged in the society. I think if all these are put in place things will be a bit better for the people.
What is your advice to the people of Nigeria as we move ahead this 2024?
Well my advice to the people is to take things easy and pray to Allah because the hardship is unbearable. They should not engage in illegal acts because of hardship and they should believe that the tough times will not last.
What do you think is the way out of internet fraud and “japa” syndrome?
The only way out is for the family to train their wards in the way of God. They should send them to school or let them learn a trade or vocation. Above all, the government should also put in place good employment structure and farming should be encouraged because some youths are interested in farming but they lack the resources to start the businesses. I think if the government can implement a sincere loan scheme with little interest rate, the youths and many jobless people will have something to do and there will be food sufficiency.
Despite the proliferation of places of worship; the country is still in charge of credible leaders, what do you think is responsible for this?
The best way to answer that is that majority of the preachers are self-centered and they are interested in what their family members will eat and some were not genuinely called by God, but because they were unable to get job they go established places of worship. The way out is that we should have the fear of God and understand the scriptures.
