Saheed Balogun’s estranged wife, Fathia, has come out to say for a fact, the actor took her to court over the use of his name.
Speaking through her publicist and image manager, Seun Oloketuyi, Fathia said, “Our attention has been drawn to media reports where Saheed Balogun claims that he knows nothing about the media reports that he is in court with our client Fathia Balogun over his decision to ask his former wife to stop using his name.

“We will like to put the records straight. The case is in court and our lawyers are on it to ensure that our client retains the name. We won’t be saying much at this time but we believe that adults should be bold and mature enough to take responsibility for their actions and not do something and say something else.
“We won’t say anything further on this matter until judgement is given as this case resumes hearing.”

Just after Saturday Beats had exclusively published the story that Saheed  dragged his ex-wife to court, the actor had reportedly issued a statement, though not denying the allegation, saying he would rather his private life was not made public.

Saheed  was quoted to have said, “I would be glad if my personal life can be kept out of the public eye. I am focusing on my work. I am married to my work and my work is all I know.”

Recall that in 2010, Saheed had granted an interview to Saturday Punch where he threatened to take his ex wife to court over her surname.

In the interview, Saheed  had said, “She is my ex. As for my name that she is still answering, the deed will be done soon. The Nigerian law says that after three or four years, you can do something about it. If somebody wants to keep my name, what of the new person coming in? This has nothing to do with grudges. She can (keep my name), if the bill is right. How many wives do you want to keep my name?”

And in another interview Fathia granted Saturday Punch few years ago, she had said, “My name is Fathia Balogun and it’s going to remain Balogun for life. Nobody can ever change that or stop me from answering that name.”

When Saturday Beats called Saheed on the phone to get his own side again, he rudely cut off the phone when the reporter introduced herself.

Thereafter, Saheed  sent a text message to the reporter saying, “Your publication really gave me a lot of setback. We are busy on how to go into the New Year with good business discussion and idea and not this stupid distraction. May the Lord put whosoever is behind this in a worse mood in the new coming year.”
