Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, Chairman of Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, has urged Nigerians to support the government in upholding the nation’s unity which is paramount to national development.

Egunjobi made the appeal on Tuesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Agege Political Retreat themed: “Political Ideologies Towards Good Governance:A Catalyst for Grassroots Representation.

According to him, the retreat centres on a theme that embodies the core responsibilities of leaders.

“Political ideologies are the foundation of governance, defining our principles and guiding our actions.

“Our party’s ideology, rooted in inclusivity, progress, and empowerment, must transcend rhetorics and be evident in the lives of those we serve.

“Good governance, the bedrock of societal progress, demands accountability, transparency, and inclusivity.

“As leaders, especially at the grassroots, we must ask ourselves if we are delivering on these ideals,” he said.

The chairman said that grassroots representation remained the bridge between the people and government, and crucial for addressing local needs and fostering sustainable development.

He added that true representation meant listening, understanding, and acting with the people’s best interests at heart.

The council boss while pointing out some of the challenges, said that as limited resources and growing expectations existed, people must remain resilient and united in the pursuit of good governance.

“This retreat offers us the opportunity to realign strategies, renew our commitment to party ideologies, and develop practical solutions for communities.

“I urge us to leave here with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to live our ideologies, deliver good governance, and empower our people.

“Together, we can ensure that our party remains a catalyst for meaningful change and build a nation that works for all,” the chairman said.

Mr Tunde Azeez, the APC Chairman in Agege local government area in his remarks, lauded President Bola Tinubu on his administration’s development reforms in economy for national development.

The party leader urged Nigerians to be patient with the government, saying there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

“I am delighted to stand before you today at this retreat, a gathering that marks a significant milestone in our journey as a party and country at large.

“I want to start by expressing gratitude to our party leaders for their visionary direction, which has been instrumental in fostering growth and development within our party.

“Your guidance has enabled us to identify and nurture talented young minds, who are now saddled with responsibilities and delivering exceptional results.

“I am proud to see our members across board, from ward to local government level, working tirelessly to promote our party’s ideals,” he said.

According to him, as the party consolidates on the gains made so far, it’s essential that members recognise the need for collaborative efforts and support from various quarters.

He added that members must work together, leveraging on their unique strengths and expertise, to drive APC forward.

The party leader also urged all APC card-carrying members to take pride in promoting achievements of the President Tinubu’s administration, especially among residents in Agege wards who are clamoring for progress.

Azeez assured residents that the President is working diligently to address the nation’s challenges, and that with patience and support, he would succeed.

“Unity is paramount to our party’s success, and I pledge to intensify efforts to foster harmony among our leaders and members.

“We must put aside our differences and work toward a common goal for the prosperity of our party and well-being of members.

“Under my watch, our party will continue to excel in our plans and programmes, designed to benefit members directly and indirectly.

“We will provide the necessary support for our political office holders, guiding them when necessary, to ensure they deliver on their mandates,” the party chairman said.

Azeez said that as the party and the country moved forward, people should remember that APC’s strength lay in collective efforts.

He urged members to remain committed, dedicated, and passionate about the APC vision to achieve the greatness they clamored for.(NAN)
