Real Facts About Speaker Gbajabiamila Mum’s 90th Birthday Celebration

News broke yesterday that the 90th birthday of the mother of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila will be celebrated in Dubai with the Speaker rumoured to be flying over 300 people.

In addition to this, it was estimated that Hon. Gbajabiamila will be spending millions of naira on the party.

Investigations have however, revealed that the story is not true.

It was reliably gathered that the decision to hold the party in Dubai was based on the insistence of the mother of the Speaker, which was difficult to overrule as he is not the first child.

We were informed that the Speaker was duty bound to respect the decision of his siblings, some of whom are 12 years older than him.

Besides, we were told that the the mother of the Speaker had wanted a private and simple birthday ceremony with close friends and associates.

Sources revealed that the venue of the event would be filled to the brim and that this could lead to the problem of crowd control if it holds in Lagos.

The mother of the House of Reps Speaker is said to be very popular as a politician and she is reportedly still relevant at the moment.

A close family source said that the Speaker, though being the nation’s number four man, was not able to change the decision as he had one vote at the family meetings, where issues relating to the party were discussed.

It was gathered that he consulted with his close friends for weeks on how to handle the matter.

It was alleged that at some point he tried to seek mama’s consent to be away from the party, and that no member of the National Assembly was also invited to the family prayers and party held last Friday at the Eagle Club.

Our source added that Gbajabiamila had to appeal to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who wanted to grace the occasion ‘to please stay away’ because he didn’t want the frenzy as it also came as a shock to many that Hon. Jimi Benson, a very close friend, wasn’t even on the trip neither were NASS members.

“Do you even know it is cheaper to do a party in Dubai than in Lagos?” the source added.

“The guests are limited and you only pay for venue, food and drinks unlike the carnival that will have happened in Lagos. Mr Speaker is very conscious of the mood of the nation now and won’t do anything to upset it. So count him out of any jamboree,” he concluded.

It was added that the story was pushed out to “embarrass the Speaker and distract him from his work as the number four citizen of the country.”
