Race: Ibadan Joint Traders Pledge Support For Akinwale of Labour Party
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ibadan Joint Traders Association has thrown their weight behind the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Oyo State, Hon. Taofeek Akinwale.
This was made known, when Akinwale visited the market leaders in Mapo, Ibadan.
While speaking with the market leaders, Alhaji Taofeek Akinwale promised that his administration will increase the loans for traders from 350 million to N500 million, adding that the last time the traders had such opportunity was during the administration of the late governor Abiola Ajimobi.
He also pledged to give the association a befitting office and an operational vehicle for the office of Iyaloja, while promising that he would visit all the markets within the city regularly.
Earlier in his welcome address, a leader of the group, Chief Maruf Hassan disclosed that market men and women vote enmasse during elections and that Akinwale should not underestimate the value of traders and that when the time comes the traders will reciprocate Akinwale’s kind gesture.
The Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Alhaja Iswat Abiola Ameringun disclosed that over one million traders in the state have PVCs to decide the next governor of the state and prayed that God will grant Akinwale his desire.
The market leaders were drawn from all the major markets in the city.
