Popular Ibadan Auto Spare Parts Market Gutted By Fire, 45 Shops Razed
No fewer than 45 shops were razed on Saturday, when a major market in Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo State, Araromi Spare Parts market, was gutted by fire, which began around 2am.
The unfortunate incident that left many traders in agony due to the losses running into millions of naira, was confirmed by the General Manager of the state Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka.
While confirming the incident, Mr. Akinyinka said that men of the command were able to put off the fire around 5 a.m.
He further said, “Our men were at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30 a.m. where they were putting off the fire.
“The fire was suppressed at around 5 a.m this morning, Cooling down operation is ongoing to suppress re-ignition. I’m on my way for an on the spot assessment.
“I cannot say specifically the number of shops that were burnt now, you know it is an emergency. It started in the night, but about 45 shops were affected.”
