Pensioner Petitions Sanwo-Olu Over Transfer Of Land To “Controversial Businessmen” Jerry Erondu And Samson Nnadi By Registrar Of Title
…..Laments How He was duped of his 1,355 Hectares Of Land
Pa Folajoye an 85 year old retired pensioner has petitioned Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State over an alleged fraudulent transfer of his 1,355 hectares of land which he bought from Ologolo Family in Ologolo Village in 1996.
Pa Folajoye says he knows that His excellency is a man who abhors injustice and would be even more inclined to protect the interest of elderly people like him.
He is therefore appealing to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to order an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the issuance of building permit on the land without any challenge to his documentation when the documents were submitted for planning permission and how the same documents were later said to be defective after construction. In addition, how the rights in the land was transferred to Mr Jerry Erondu and Mr. Samson Nnadi in the name of Carter-tech Limited.
Pa Folajoye alleged he rightfully purchased the said property from the Ologolo family, the original owners in 1996. He stated that the purchase was ratified by a Deed of Assignment issued to him by Ologolo Family dated 4th December, 2003 and registered as No. 44 in Volume 2087 at the Lands Registry Office, Lagos.
He is said to have paid the Lagos state government Land Use tax on the land for several years, rented the land out to a company at some point as a storage facility and has generally enjoyed peaceful possession of his land without any third party interference.
However, events took an adverse turn, when sometime in 2017, 21 years after he bought the land and 17 years after he had laboriously completed the sand filling and perimeter fence, pa Folajoye executed a Finance and Development Agreement for the construction of 50 housing units over the land with Mr Jerry Erondu and Mr. Nnadi of Carter-Tech Limited. Pa Folajoye’s contribution to the agreement was his land while Mr Jerry Erondu and Mr. Nnadi were responsible for the finance, construction and development through their company, Carter-tech Limited.
Pa Folajoye alleged that he handed over his land papers to Mr Jerry Erondu and Mr Samson Nnadi which was used to obtain all the necessary government permissions to commence the construction of the building. However, when the building was completed, Mr Jerry Erondu and Mr Samson Nnadi realising he should have applied to the Lagos state government for some minor rectification of his land papers, connived with some officials in the department of lands to exploit and hedge Pa Folajoye out of the land he has held for over two decades. Of note is that pa Folajoye’s papers were acceptable to grant the building permission. Mr Erondu and Mr. Nnadi have refused to hand over pa Folajoye’s interest in the subject property which they termed: ‘Atlantis 2’.
The pensioner cried bitterly that he has been stripped of the assets he relied on for his old age. In fact, Mr Jerry Erondu and Mr. Samson Nnadi drove the pensioner out of the premises when his wife and son approached them for their entitlement in the development” and have since employed various nefarious means to deny them access to the land.
