There are strong indications that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Kogi State is currently facing serious crisis over the issue of micro zoning. It was reliably gathered that the issue is presently affecting the party particularly in Kogi West.

Already, some concerned Yagba citizen have petitioned the Kogi State Commissioner of Police to stop any plan by groups of people or individual in the party to hold any meeting. Sources close to the party secretariat in the state disclosed that a former Deputy governor of the state, Chief Samuel Akande was behind the meeting.

In a petition dated 21 December 2017, addressed to the Commissioner of Police and signed by 16 members, the petitioners alleged that the former deputy governor had earlier stated such meeting on micro zoning which later turned chaotic when some members in attendance expressed dissatisfaction over the outcome.

“The position of our party PDP does not recognize micro zoning. “We thought the issue would have been laid to rest and allow peace to continue to diagnose supreme since the objective of the conveners are clear and totally disputable and could lead to break down of law and order.

‘This new invitation is definitely a major risk to peace, and degenerate to major breakdown of law and order that may go to an uncontrollable level. “If the meeting is really for Yagba people, then why restricting attendance which is another major possible reason that could precipitate or cause crisis on the day because of various political interests that are already aware of the meeting’s intention,” the petition stated.
