Pastor Arrested For Kidnapping 2-Year-Old Girl

The founder of Believers’ Prayer Ministry in Owerri, Imo State, Pastor Okpara Emmanuel Chigozie has been arrested over his involvement  in the kidnap of a 2-year old girl in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
In his maiden press briefing yesterday, the newly deployed Ondo State Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Isaac Eke, said police detectives swung into action on receiving the report from the Okuta-Elerinla Division and the suspects were apprehended.

He said, “One Chimonye Anufor, a male, 25, led detectives to Owerri, Imo State where one Okpara Emmanuel Chigozie, a pastor, was arrested in his apartment.”

Speaking to reporters while being paraded, Pastor Chigozie said he initially did not know that the group of boys he accompanied to the location where the child was abducted were out for kidnapping.

He said he was 28 years old and was the founder of the church, Believers’ Prayer Ministry, located at No. 36, Umudagu Road by Verona Hardel Junction, Orji, Owerri, Imo State.

He said, “One of the boys told me that he impregnated a girl and that he wanted me, as a pastor, to accompany him to Akure to settle a dispute between them, so he could be allowed to take the child.

“I did not know that they wanted to kidnap the child, but when we arrived there, I was inside the car and they went in there and took the child and it was later one of them brought out a gun and said this was a case of kidnap and anybody who misbehaves would be shot.”
