Oyo Government Pledges Support For Akala Family, Appreciates His Contributions As Governor

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has commended a former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala for his contributions to the development of the state.

Speaking through his Deputy, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan at the House Chiefs Parliament Building Agodi Secretariat Ibadan on Wednesday during the Lying-In-State in honour of the late Akala, the state Government appreciated his contributions to the state.

Makinde stressed that the state government will continue to support the family the former governor left behind.

The Deputy Governor described the late Akala as a large hearted person, saying that he served the state as a great Ogbomoso man, adding that he ruled the state meritoriously and with the absolute fear of God.

“One of the unique attributes of the late Akala is that he kept every agreement. He never shifted the goal post, when the game has started,” Rauf stated.

Also in his tributes, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin described the late Akala as a thorough bred politician, a team leader, a community man, and a grassroots mobilizer in all ramifications.

He said, “our late governor was no doubt a great leader. His benevolence, love for the people, coupled with his all inclusive and encompassing political ideology gave him large followership and undoubtedly made him one of the most accessible, approachable and celebrated political leaders in Oyo State.

“The late Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala unequivocally etched his name in gold and made indelible marks as the governor of Oyo State between 2007 and 2011. He was the people’s governor and “Oyato governor,” he said.

Also at the event were the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff and other government functionaries.

Others were the Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Fatai Buhari, and the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Isaac Omodewu.
