The Convener, Onigbongbo Right Concern, Pastor Michael Olosho, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the growing crisis that have engulfed the Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the aftermath of the demise of the immediate past Chairman, Hon. Dotun Olakanle.

He made the call in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.

Recall that Hon. Olakanle’s demise was reported to have occurred on Nov. 2, in Lagos.

He was among the 57 Chairmen sworn in by Sanwo-Olu on July 27, 2021, after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) swept the council polls.

The LCDA boss reportedly died after a brief illness was aged 54.

“The crisis that has engulfed the Onigbongbo LCDA following the death of the chairman, Hon. Dotun Olakanle, has taken a new dimension.

“The crisis stemmed from the swearing in of Hon. Rakiya Hassan, who was the vice-chairman of the late Hon. Olakanle.

“This new Chairperson in Hon. Rakiya Hassan, believed to be loyalist of the chief of staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, on assumption of office on Nov. 11, dissolved the cabinet executives.

“This was further compounded by the imposition of a vice-chairman, from the mandate group, where Hon. Rakiya Hassan also emerged from,” he said.

According to him, the development has given rise to a new dimension of an already tense situation, following the death of Hon. Olakanle.

“APC party members and council excos have occupied both the council secretariat and APC state secretariat in protest to the development.

“Leaders across the Justice forum caucus when contacted, were dissatisfied with the action of the Chief of Staff, as the doctrine of balance of interest was boycotted.

“The Vice-chairman, Taofeek Olorunfunmi, was sworn in on Nov. 22, amidst protest and tight security.

“I am therefore calling on the new chairperson, to do the needful by following due process.

“I also want to seize this opportunity to call on our very dear President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to please, use his good office to urgently intervene on the matter, to avert the escalation of the crisis at the council,” Pastor Olosho said.
