Ondo State Coalition of Democrats Denounces Assault on Ministry of Justice and Attorney General

The Ondo State Coalition of Democrats has issued a strong condemnation regarding the recent assault on the Ministry of Justice by a group of unidentified individuals reportedly affiliated with a faction of the Akoko Youth Forum. This unlawful invasion disrupted the official activities of the Ministry, raising serious concerns about the security of public institutions and the safety of officials fulfilling their duties.
Comrade Obadeyi Samuel, the Publicity Secretary of the Coalition, expressed outrage at the incident, stating, “The individuals behind this attack, linked to a splinter group within the Akoko Youth Forum, have not only physically threatened the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, but have also engaged in a malicious smear campaign against him on social media. It is shocking that a group claiming to seek Dr. Ajulo’s support for their forthcoming summit would resort to such acts of intimidation and lawlessness.”
Dr. Ajulo, a respected activist and advocate for democracy, should not have to endure such harassment, according to Samuel. “The alleged association of these invaders with politically exposed persons in Abuja suggests a broader political agenda behind this unacceptable incident,” he added.
In light of these developments, the Coalition is calling for a thorough investigation by the Nigeria Police to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this reprehensible act. “As a coalition dedicated to democratic principles, we firmly believe in the right of individuals and groups to express grievances. However, such expressions must occur within the boundaries of civility, legality, and respect for human rights,” Samuel emphasized.
The Coalition highlighted that the actions of these individuals not only attempted to suppress Dr. Ajulo’s rights but also traumatized innocent staff members of the Ministry of Justice, who were subjected to an unnecessary and disgraceful display of aggression. “Such acts of lawlessness must not be tolerated in a democratic society,” Samuel asserted.
The Ondo State Coalition of Democrats stands in solidarity with Dr. Kayode Ajulo and all law-abiding citizens against any form of intimidation. Samuel urged law enforcement agencies to take swift action to prevent future occurrences of such impunity. “We call upon the relevant authorities to ensure that the rule of law prevails and that those who engage in violent and unlawful behavior are held accountable for their actions,” he concluded.
This condemnation from the Ondo State Coalition of Democrats serves as a rallying cry for the protection of public institutions and the reinforcement of democratic values in the face of growing political aggression. It emphasizes the need for unity among citizens to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety of public officials.
