Olu Of Orile Ilawo, Oba Macgregor Receives Staff Of Office, Unveils Economic Plans

The newly installed Olu Of Orile Ilawo in Odeda Local Government area of Ogun State, Oba Alexander Babatunde Macgregor, has unveiled his socio-economic plans aimed at giving the town a face lift.

Oba Macgregor, in his acceptance speech shortly after his colourful installation as the Olu Of Orile Ilawo, said that he would focus on providing conducive athmosphere that would attract tourists to the town and povide employment opportunities for the teeming youths of the town, and wage a vigorous war against insecurity.

“We shall pay due attention to all matters of customs and traditions, and focus on security for our communities and see to the welfare and development of our people,” he said.

Speaking further, Oba Macgregor promised to reform the palace so thsg it would adequately be responsive and provide justice, equity and stability.

Earlier in his address at the installation ceremony, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of the state, charged the monarch to champion efforts that would promote the economic development of the town and Ogun State in general.

Governor Abiodun also called on the monarch to engage in activities that would promote peaceful coexistence among his people and neighbouring towns.

The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamsat, advised the monarch to accelerate the economic development of Orile Ilawo Town by mobilizing the people to continue to support the government by performing their civic duties with prompt payment of approved taxes amongst others.

The installation of Oba Alexander Babatunde Macgregor came 16 months after the demise of the immediate past Olu Of Orile Ilawo, Oba Albert Oladapo Aina, who joined his ancestors in December 2021.
