A youth group in the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun PDP Youths Vanguard has expressed its unwillingness to follow the directive of a governorship aspirant in under the party in the state, Hon. Ladi Adebutu to support the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade for the Saturday 9th March, 2019 guber election.

The leader of the Ogun PDP Youth Vanguard, Mr. Adekunle Alagbe said in a press statement on Thursday 7th March that the move was shocking, selfish, anti-party, embarrassing and shameful, adding that such an action should not have come from an supposes party man.

Alagbe said in the statement, which he personally signed and made available to journalists, that the decision of Hon. Ladi Adebutu to work with Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the state and his anointed candidate, Akinlade for the Saturday election was unbecoming of someone like Adebutu, who ought to stand by his word to support whoever won the case he took to the court over the governorship candidate of the party in the state.

The youth leader added in the statement that the action of Hon. Adebutu was against the spirit and letters of the agreement his group reached with that of the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State, Senator Kashamu Buruji at a meeting that took place few days ago in Ijebu.

“We are highly disappointed in Hon. Ladi Adebutu for supporting Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who destroyed Ogun State in the eight years that he has been in the saddle in the gateway state.

“Amosun contributed to the challenges the PDP is having in Ogun State today and this is a man that has even been suspended by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) over anti-party activities.

“How could Hon. Ladi Adebutu stoop so low to support Governor Amosun and Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade and direct us to vote for the APM on Saturday after he had gone on national television to say he would not leave the PDP, even if the Court case does not come his way, but work for the the person that wins in court.

“With this action, it is now clear that Hon. Adebutu had been hobnobbing with Governor Amosun over the years only for him to deceive members of the PDP that his group would abide by the court ruling over who is the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the state,” Alagbe said in the statement.

He added that it was surprising that the action came from Hon. Adebutu, who was personally present at the peace meeting and pledge to work with the group of Senator Kashamu Buruji if the pendulum swung in their favour in the court.

The statement read: “it is now clear that Hon. Adebutu was a fifth columnist in the Ogun State PDP and that he had been clandestinely working for Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who has been discredited by the leaders as well as the rank and file of his party.

“This is a serious matter that should be condemned by all right thinking people in the PDP and we will not join Hon. Adebutu to commit suicide that would place us at the wrong side of history.

“Posterity will judge all of us at the right time and very soon all that everybody has been doing will be reviewed and the likes of Hon. Adebutu and his cohorts would be thrown into the dustbin of history.”

The group further stated that as true party loyalists, Senator Buruji Kashamu remains the governorships candidate of the PDP in Ogun State and that they would work for for his victory.

They added that they would do all within their power to ensure that the people of Ogun State troop out enmasss on Saturday to vote for Senator Buruji as the next Governor of the state.
