Oby Ezekwesili reveals those who should celebrate May Day
A former minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has stated that this year’s Worker’s Day was not meant for those Nigerians who just show up at offices, but those who make actual contributions towards the growth of the country.
Ezekwesili, however, commended the resilience of the Nigerian workers that apply themselves to honest work to generate the little productivity of the country.
In a goodwill message to workers on the occasion of this year’s Workers’ Day, Ezekwesili, through her Twitter handle on Tuesday morning, shower praises on those who raise Nigeria’s productivity and not those who show up at offices.
She wrote: “Today offers us the Opportunity to specially celebrate the Nigerian Workers. We honor not the people who show up at offices but those who everyday apply themselves to honest work and generate the little Productivity of our country.
“Dignity of Labour was one of the first core values of Life that our parents taught us. Nothing confers pride in a man or woman like the knowledge that they earned their Living by hard work.
“Raising Productivity. This more than anything should be the Economic Policy priority of our Political Leaders and Policy Makers.
“On this #LabourDay2018, there is no subject more relevant than retooling Nigerian workers to raise Nigeria’s productivity.”
