OBJ, Retired Generals Not Planning To Work Against Tinubu In 2027-Sources

A recent report claiming that former military generals and heads of state, including Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, are planning to block President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid in 2027 has been dismissed as false.

Sources have revealed that these former leaders have no reason to oppose Tinubu in 2027. They noted that even if such plans existed, Tinubu could only be voted out by the same people who supported him in the 2023 election.

The report, attributed to an online platform, has been labeled a fabrication by “enemies of progress” aimed at causing political tension.

The source clarified that Obasanjo’s recent meeting with prominent figures in Minna, Niger State, had nothing to do with undermining Tinubu’s 2027 ambitions.

“Former President Obasanjo has the right to meet with anyone for any reason. However, linking it to 2027 is misleading and unhelpful. Nigeria’s current challenges, including fuel subsidy issues, have been ongoing for years, and blaming one leader ignores the larger picture,” the source explained.

” All the leaders present at the meeting would do everything to make sure the current president succeeds”

The source also praised Tinubu’s efforts to address longstanding issues, stating that the current administration is focused on reforming and stabilizing the country after years of mismanagement.

They urged the media to steer clear of baseless speculations and resist being manipulated by “enemies of progress” for selfish interests.
