As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the world over, Nigerians living abroad have not asked the Federal Government to evacuate them back home.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyema revealed this on Tuesday at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

He said there is yet no request from any Nigerian Embassy abroad to warrant an evaluation.

“As of now, we do not have any request from any of the embassies from Nigerians wishing to be evacuated from various countries. But certainly, if we receive notification from any of our embassies, we will react accordingly” he said.

It would be recalled that Nigeria banned international flight operations into the country in the wake of the spread of COVID-19 disease in the country, as most of the current confirmed cases of the disease were of people coming into the country from other countries, especially the US and Europe

However, some countries are already making arrangements to evacuate their citizens from Nigeria in the wake of the spread of the disease in the country.
