NNPC Denies Reports Of Explosion At Port Harcourt Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has denied reports of an explosion at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) in Rivers State.
A statement on Tuesday by Olufemi Soneye, NNPC’s chief corporate communications officer, said the incident was a flare event that has since been fully contained.
The company assured that there was no threat to staff, surrounding communities, or the environment, urging the public and the media to disregard any claims of an explosion at the refinery, calling them entirely false.
The clarification comes just hours after two explosions were reported at the Pipeline Manifold and Trans-Niger Pipeline in the Omwawriwa area of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni and Bodo-Gokana Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
The explosions coincide with President Bola Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in the state, which addresses ongoing security concerns and political crises in the region.
