My Mission In Rivers Is To Maintain Law, Order, says Ibas

Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) was officially sworn in as the Administrator of Rivers State at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state on Tuesday.
Tinubu appointed Ibas to take control of the troubled state for a period of six months, pending the resolution of the ongoing political turmoil that has gripped Rivers.
In a brief address to reporters after the ceremony, Ibas outlined his plan to restore order and stability to Rivers. He acknowledged the complexity of the situation, emphasizing the importance of peace and security in addressing the state’s challenges.
“First of all, I think we know the circumstances that led to where we are here.
“Mr. President made it very clear in his broadcast, the main issue is that of maintaining law and order in the state, I think for any meaningful activities to take place in Rivers State, that is the utmost task that I have to work together with all other stakeholders to ensure that we bring peace, order and security and stability to the people and government of River State and Nigeria at large.”
President Tinubu decided to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State because the ongoing political crisis was causing serious problems and making it hard for the state to function properly. He was worried that the people of Rivers were being denied good leadership and the benefits of democracy.
