MTN, Other Private Firms to Construct Federal Roads on Tax Waiver
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has disclosed that MTN, Unilever and other private entities have indicated an interest in keying into the tax waiver-based roads construction policy of the government.
He disclosed this while answering questions from members of the House of Representatives during the 2022 budget defence on Wednesday.
The minister, who was asked about the proposed 21 roads to be constructed or rehabilitated by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said more entities were willing to key into the initiative.
Fashola further explained that interested private entities would be actively involved based on certain agreements to address roads infrastructure challenges in the country.
It could be recalled that Dangote and BUA groups have also proposed to construct some roads in some parts of the country using the tax due to the federal government.
