Military Grenade Explodes In Lagos, One Killed, Three Injured

A military-grade grenade explosion in the Idi-Araba area of Mushin, Lagos, has claimed the life of one scavenger and left three others injured.
The incident occurred on Thursday when a group of scavengers were attempting to dismantle the grenade in a metal scrap yard. The device detonated during the process, killing one of them instantly and injuring three others.
A resident, Akin Olawale, explained that the explosion, which occurred just after 12 pm, caused widespread panic in the area.
The police were immediately contacted, and it was later revealed that the explosion was caused by a grenade. The scavengers had been trying to disassemble it when it went off.
Upon the arrival of security personnel, two undetonated grenades were discovered at the site.
Another local, who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons, disclosed that the injured were taken to the hospital. He described seeing the victims in a vehicle, severely hurt, as it stopped near a filling station.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the explosion and provided details on the incident.
He stated that the Explosive and Ordinance Department had secured the area, ensuring there was no further danger. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
