Mercy Ogunbunmi @ 40: Launches Foundation, Reaches Out To Widows
While some people believe that birthdays are for merry making and opportunities to wine and dine with their family members and friends alike, some people have made it a point of duty to make the day special and reach out to the less privileged.
One of such persons is Mrs. Mercy Ogunbunmi, wife of successful journalist and publisher, Mr. Segun Ogunbunmi.
The quentessential woman of substance recently decided to celebrate her 40th birthday by reaching out to some less privileged widows around her.
Respite came the way of the widows through Mercy Ogunbunmi Foundation, which offered free medical services as well as essential material and cash gifts to them.
On Sunday, November 6, 2022, Mercy Ogunbunmi Foundation (Widows Outreach) was officially launched in commemoration of Ogunbunmi’s 40th birthday.
Dozens of less privileged widows were empowered at the event held at Austeno Multipurpose Hall, Obawole, Iju, Lagos State.
During the event, free blood pressure and sugar level tests were conducted for the widows, and free treatments administered where necessary.
Cash and other gifts were also handed to each of the beneficiaries.
According to the visioner, Mrs Mercy Ogunbunmi, the foundation was borne out of her passion to help the needy, widows and other vulnerable persons in the society.
The outreach exercise, according to her, will be on a regular basis, particularly to the widows.
“This vision was borne out of compassion to help the needy, who are less privileged, and most especially widows who are saddled with the sudden responsibility of taking care of their families,” Mrs Ogunbunmi said.
