Oyo Matters
Memoirs of Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao (Allow Alao)
I have travelled to all local government areas in the state in the previous elections and this time to 30 out of 33. I am supposed to cover the last three today (Tuesday) but due to the crisis in that area it was suspended. Out of these 30 local government areas, I have been to some more than three times and some twice. I have met virtually all APC stakeholders.
Let us ask some aspirants who want to govern the state, how many local government areas they have been to, particularly in Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Ogbomoso and Oyo axis in the last three months. My people are really suffering. I regard all local government as my local government and constituency. There is no local government I don’t have people I can refer to as my person, brothers, sisters and friends.
Let the national body of our great party approves the direct primary method for us and you will see how people will accept and vote for me.
Go and find out about me. I have good name and integrity. I have no skeleton in my cupboard. No criminal record. I have never participated in looting this country. No record of electoral fraud or malpractices.
As far as I am concerned, other zones are very important to me as Ibadan where I come from. I want to be Governor of the whole state hence i have gone round to have direct and first hand feeling of the problems in all the zones of the state.
Ibadan to Eruwa is terrible 45 minutes journey. It takes you almost 2 hours plus.
Iseyin to itesiwaju to Iwajowa are equally in bad forms. At Igangan, people are renting tractors from Ilorin. At Iwere Ile, people are going to Benin republic to enjoy some basic amenities of life. If I don’t go to those places? how would I know.
I want to develop every zone such that they will be tourist attractions and investment friendly areas.
Every zone is my home. To enjoy vacations, I don’t need to travel far. I will go to each zone and move the government closer to them so that they will know that the governor is neither a spirit nor a masquerade. Some people have never seen a governor in their life except picture portrait or on television. I will make myself so accessible that ordinary farmer, young and old can boast of having seen, sat with or felt the presence of me positively.
Having travelled all over the world and worked in different countries, I have learnt so many positive ideas that I want to replicate in my fatherland. With your support, we will have a state we can really be proud of.
On thuggery. I have zero tolerance for thuggery and hooliganism I don’t believe I should use any foul means to attain power. I know how to handle our guys. There are no bad guys, politicians make them one. In my government all guys will feel ashamed to be involved in any thuggery because they will be meaningfully engaged.
I will respect the elders, leaders and honour the stakeholders. Any agreement I enter into , I will fulfil my own terms. I will not be ungrateful. I will be youth friendly and I will be merciful to the old people.
Good governance and welfare, wellbeing and economic prosperity of all will be my priorities.
God bless you all.
God bless Oyo State
