Kogi Youths Protest At EFCC Lagos Office, Demand Yahaya Bello’s Arrest
Some youths from Kogi State, under the aegis of Zero Corruption Agenda in conjunction with Kogi People United Against Corruption, on Saturday took a protest to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), demanding the arrest and prosecution of former governor of the State, Yahaya Bello. The protesters said the EFCC should employ every possible means, including securing the assistance of the Nigerian Army, in arresting Yahaya Bello, from his Kogi residence, where he is currently being protected by hired political thugs.
The group, had earlier protested at the EFCC office last weekend demanding the immediate arrest of former governor Yahaya Bello, stating that failure to do so after seven days will lead to another protest of which was done today.
Speaking during the protest, Convener of the group, Mr Abe Emmanuel Kolawole:”We are in support of EFFC’s quest to arrest Bello, and we are saying that as Nigerians, as Kogi indigenes, we must kill corruption before corruption kills us.
“All of us understand what over N80billion can do for this country, if Yahaya Bello knows that he is clean, he should come and give account of his stewardship, we do not know why he is on the run, why is he afraid of arrest? why is he afraid of coming out to give account of how he ran the state for eight years?
“We understand that Yahaya Bello is not the first person to invited by the EFCC to come and answer questions. It is always easy to arrest Yahoo boys, does Yahaya has two heads? We want the EFCC to expedite action on his arrest, if he is not arrested, we will continue to protest until the arrest is made.”
The group said it will continue to picket the Commission’s office, until their demands are met.
