Kano Assembly: Proposal to Decentralise Kano Emirate Underway.

In a petition filed before the Kano State House of Assembly by the Ibrahim Salisu & Chambers seeking for the State Assembly to decentralised Kano Emirate to Gaya, Bichi, Rano and Karaye emirate respectively in view what he referred to the developmental advantages embedded in the gesture.

The letter read by the House Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Allhassan read before the house during the impromptu plenary, said the letter seeking for decentralisation of Kano emirate contained that the motive will draw the remote and historic emirate closer to the state government, which will enhanced security and developmental aspects.

While contributing in favour of the motion, Hon. Zakari Muhammad from Tarauni constituency said the incorporation of the aforementioned emirates, in the same monarchical standard with Kano emirate is appropriate and timely in view of progress been made in a neighbouring states which the decentralisation is bearing fruits of developments.

While members from Takai, Dawakin Tofa, Rimin-Gado, Municipal, Nassarawa and Tudun Wada unanimously in support of the move to upgrade the status of Rano, Gaya, Bichi and Karaye to become equal in power as far as their emirate status is concern.

In his remark, while briefing newsmen shortly after the plenary, former speaker, Hon. Ali Danja from Gezawa said the opposition totally not in support of this petition, saying the gesture is fully political and shrouded in secrecy.

The house adjourned its sitting till tomorrow Tuesday.
