INEC Distributes Election Materials Amidst Tight Security In Kogi State
Mr. Pia also informed the media that 239 E-Collation Centres have been established to ensure a fast and efficient collation process. Additionally, Technical Officers will be deployed to respond and fix any errors from the card readers.
The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has pledged to ensure free and fair election in Kogi State. The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Halilu Pia, categorically stated that INEC is ready to conduct the Kogi election.
Approximately 13,000 Ad hoc staff have been given a three day training in a bid to enhance the efficiency of the election. This training is also in response to the previous Kogi State election where poll officials were not trained well enough to meet the polling challenges, according to an election official.
REC Pia stated that a total of 1,397,786 registrants in the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) are eligible to vote at 3,135 polling stations across the State.
Mr. Pia also informed the media that 239 E-Collation Centres have been established to ensure a fast and efficient collation process. Additionally, Technical Officers will be deployed to respond and fix any errors from the card readers.
Our SaharaReporters correspondent in Kogi State also learned that INEC received sensitive election materials in Lokoja on Thursday, and then escorted them to various locations with tight security.
Mr. Pia said “the materials distributed include ballot papers and result sheets.
INEC has undertaken measures to ensure the election in the State are free, fair, and credible.”
He added “the materials delivered will be taken to the INEC offices in the 21 local government areas of the State from where they would later in the day be shared among the 239 wards.”
