I’ll Endorse My Son-in-law As Next Imo Gov — Okorocha
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday publicly said he will endorse the candidature of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu as his successor in 2019 if he decides to contest.
There were increased oppositions to Okorocha’s plan to have Nwosu as Imo governor in 2019.
Nwosu is married to Okorocha’s first daughter, Ulomma and is currently the governor’s chief of staff.
A press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sam Onwuemeodo, yesterday said Okorocha made the commitment to support his son in-law when leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Owerri Municipal Council visited him and urged him to encourage his in law to vie for the governorship.
Okorocha reportedly seized the opportunity and eulogized his in-law, saying Nwosu was the man to beat and that zoning should not be an impediment.
Nwosu is from the same senatorial district with Okorocha and other zones in the state had been clamouring for power shift.
“Uche Nwosu is hard working, and never gets tired. He is a very humble young man. Not proud. Not arrogant. So, power won’t enter his head,” he said.
According to him, “In spite of the position he occupies, you can’t see him quarrelling with anybody or maltreating anybody. He does not segregate anybody, whether from Orlu or Owerri or Okigwe zone. He relates with people enviously.
“I have checked him in and out; I have not found him wanting. What the state wants is Imo governor and not Owerri Zone or Orlu Zone or Okigwe Zone governor. Zoning does not put food on the table of anybody,” he added.
