Ike Uche: Ethiopia Won’t be Piece Piece of Cake!
Uche who led the Eagles’ attack line when they forced Ethiopia to a 2-2 draw in Addis Ababa last year and was part of the team that defeated them 2-0 at the Africa Nations Cup in South Africa, was of the view that judging from the calibre of players the Stephen Keshi led side can boast of, they will have themselves to blame if they do not win over two legs.
“They are a good side but I don’t see them stopping us at all,” he began.
“With good preparation and the quality we have we in our squad, we stand a very good chance of making it to Brazil. But we must be ready to curtail them in front of their fans because we have a good chance of beating them over two legs,” he added.
The 29-year-old striker has yet to earn a recall to the Super Eagles after the Nations Cup triumph but expressed strong belief that his club form will help him regain his place very soon.
“I will continue to work very hard to get my place back into the team,” he concluded in a chat with Soccer Africa.
Ethiopia will face Nigeria on October 13 in Addis Ababa in the first leg of a 2014 World Cup play-off with the second leg billed to hold in Calabar on November 16.
