Ijumu Unveils Big Plans For Maiden Cultural Festival

The first Ijumu Cultural Festival will hold in Iyara, the local government headquarters on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

The event was instituted by the Ijumu Traditional Council to foster unity in the kingdom, rejuvenate the aspects of its culture that are nearly extinct and to help the younger generation appreciate and imbibe their culture.

The festival which will feature all Ijumu communities will  commemorate the 5th anniversary of the coronation of the Olujumu of Ijumu, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni as well as to raise the estimated N500 million required to complete the Olujumu’s palace in Iyara.

A 14 member committee to organize the festival has been constituted and subsequently inaugurated by the Olujumu, accompanied by some senior members of the traditional council.

Members of the committee are:

3. Bro O. J. Dare
4. Dr. Emmanuel  Jeminiwa
5. Prince Dayo Akanmode
6. Mr. Paul Femi Salami
7. Yeye Olufunmilayo  Bodunde
8. Chief Kayode Olorunmaiye
9. Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho
10. Alhaji Muritala Akintola
12. Chief Bola Sanni
13. Chief Durotiwon Pedro (representing the Chairman Ijumu L.G.A)
14. Ahmed-Ade Fatai – Secretary

Seven sub-committees have also been set up and chairmen named for them as follows:
1. Contact and Mobilization – Prince Dayo Akanmode
2. Finance -Dr. Emmanuel Jeminiwa
3. Culture – Bro. O. J. Dare
4. Publicity -Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho
5. Protocol/Venue – Alh. Muritala Akintola
6. Entertainment -Yeye Funmilayo Bodunde
7. Security – Chief Kayode Olorunmaiye
