Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, today inaugurated community policing in Ogun State. He wrote: Today, I formally launched the Community Policing Project in Ogun State towards bringing the Police and policing closer to our people, to curb crimes and vices from the grassroots.

I commend the IGP, Muhammed Abubakar for this proactive initiative that reflects the readiness of the Nigeria Police to find a permanent solution, to complement the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) constituted in all the Country’s Divisional formations, to threats to life, property and business.

Already, our Administration continues to provide logistical and material support to all security agencies, through the Ogun State Security Trust Fund (OGSTF), in form of the purchase and distribution of over 300 operational automobiles and the regional establishment of the community-based security outfit, Amotekun.

No doubt, these strides have contributed to the inclusion of our dear State amongst the pilot States for the implementation of this Community Policing Project. This speaks to the emphasis of our Government on the inclusiveness and accountability approach we are adopting.

As I express my sincere gratitude to all security agencies for ensuring compliance to COVID-19 guidelines, I urge everyone to embrace this people-oriented Project and become stakeholders in attaining peace and security in our society.
