Fuel scarcity hits Lagos as litre sells for N150
There was scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, otherwise known as petrol in Lagos during the weekend as long queue of vehicles were spotted at various filling stations across the state.
Observations show that most fuel stations around the state were permanently under lock and key.
In Ikorodu bus stop, a popular filling station was selling a litre for N115 instead of the official pump price of N86.
However, illegal dealers, otherwise known as black marketers were selling a litre between N140 to N160 per litre.
The scarcity of the product was evident Sunday evening as many passengers were stranded due to absence of commercial vehicles.
Some passengers who spoke with our correspondent around Ketu claimed they had been at the bus stops for over 45 minutes.
Confirming the development, a motorist, who gave his name as Obey said he bought a litre from black marketers around Ogolonto in Ikorodu for N155.
“Once this fuel runs out, I will close for the day. Like today, we were buying a litre for N115 around Ikorodu. Most filling stations around my area are not operating,” he said.
However, findings by show that Mobil and Oando filling stations were selling at moderate price, but with long queues.
Similarly, in many states across the federation, the price of the product in fluctuating between N86 per litre to N200.
