Four brothers murder grandma for money ritual

The Edo State Police Command, have arrested four men, over the murder of their grandmother, Grace Ovbiedo, allegedly for money ritual purpose.

The incident occurred at No. 28 Asowata Street, Ohovbe quarters in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state on December 12, 2017.

The four men, said to be brothers, were identified as: Salaya Oluka, Martins Oluka, Dickson Oluka and Austin Enayi.

According to a family source, the suspects, were into internet fraud and had consulted a native doctor who instructed them to tie a tortoise to their backs and kill a close relation of theirs after which they would become wealthy.

On getting home, the suspects tied a tortoise to one of their backs and together used a wrapper to cover the mouth of the unsuspecting grandmother and smashed her head against a wall in the process.

However, the bubble busted when they tried to dispose the corpse. They were caught in the act by residents of the area who raised an alarm.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, confirmed the incident in Benin City, on Monday.

Nwanbuzor said two of the suspects, Dickson and Salaya have been arrested while two others were at large.

Also, the native doctor who was earlier arrested had been granted bail while the controversial tortoise is still in police custody as an exhibit.

The State Police PRO said a manhunt has been launched by the police to arrest the fleeing suspects.
