Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, has called on women, particularly mothers, to guide the nation’s young generation towards embracing positive values and ethical principles.

According to a statement from her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady conveyed this message during a meeting with the national executives of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) at her office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Senator Tinubu stressed the responsibility of mothers and council members to steer the youth away from the negative aspects of social media. She underscored the importance of helping young people recognize their true identity as Nigerians, instead of adopting foreign cultures.

Recalling her own upbringing, she shared a memory of unity among children during birthday parties, emphasizing that this sense of togetherness should be preserved. She also highlighted the communal spirit of the past, where the entire village played a role in raising a child.

The First Lady expressed her belief that Nigerians possess the capacity to guide the nation through challenging times by demonstrating compassion and love for one another. She emphasized the importance of individual contributions beyond relying solely on the government’s efforts.

Senator Tinubu looked forward to a revitalized NCWS, recognizing the organization’s historical influence.

The National President of the NCWS, Hajia Adamu Lami Lau, assured the First Lady of the council’s collaboration on her Renewed Hope Initiative project. She pledged the council’s commitment to spreading messages of hope, unity, peace, and prosperity among Nigerian women, aligning with the First Lady’s objectives.
