Exclusive: Details Of Bola Tinubu’s 2023 Mother Of All Presidential Campaign
- “He Will Win APC Primaries Unopposed”
While tongues are wagging over the timing of a subtle campaign for the 2023 presidential election by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there are reports that the campaign is just about to begin in full.
Sources within the camp of the sensational and celebrated politician revealed that Tinubu is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that he takes over power from the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, when he must have completed his second term in office.
“#IstandwithAsiwajuBolaAhmedTinibuforNigeriaPresident2023” campaign appeared to have gained much popularity with members of the party going round the country to convince the people on the need to support Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria.
We were informed that leaders of the APC, including the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole are in support of Tinubu’s candidature because “he is full of ideas that can move the nation forward.” Tinubu’s profile were reeled out as the reason for pushing him forward as the next President of Nigeria from 2023.
Some watchers of events recalled that from his southwest base, Tinubu has handpicked governors, ministers, senators, a president and a vice president.
“He has also sacked governors, a party chairman, a president, a senate president, annihilated political opponents, ended careers of those who wouldn’t do his bidding and made Nigeria’s commercial capital city of Lagos his own–all on a whim.
“His Bourdillon Lagos address often mills with party faithful and hangers-on looking for favors. “No politician wields as much influence as Tinubu does today. He may be looking at wielding all of that influence from the center,” they said.
It will be recalled that, when APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was asked about the posters of Tinubu for President, he didn’t rule out a Tinubu presidential run. He only said it wasn’t time to discuss the subject.
“So, I stand here as National Chairman of APC not only to deny those posters as they affect me but to deny those posters as they affect any leader of our party because it is not yet time.
“At this point in time, all hands must be on deck to support President Muhammadu Buhari and all our state governors in their respective states to work together unanimously to deliver for the good of our people in the states and at the federal level,” Oshiomhole said.
It is also worthy of note that Tinubu has not ruled out a presidential run in 2023 or denied the posters. The voices of some APC chieftains have even confirmed that Tinubu’s is preparing for the election:
“Bola Tinubu will make a good president. Other issues notwithstanding, Tinubu will make a good modern president because the presidency these days is scientific. Nigerians, by convention, seem to have agreed that there should be rotation of the presidency.”
–Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
“In the South-West today, the tallest person politically can’t be better than Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, so I will encourage and plead with him to run for the office of president. I know his antecedents, I know his pedigree and I know he can run the affairs of Nigeria effectively and smoothly. Look at the financial engineering foundation he laid for Lagos State, which explains why governors that came after him found it easy to run the affairs of the state.”
-APC chieftain, Chief Lanre Rasaq (KLM).
“Tinubu is the most prominent Yoruba person that has paid his dues and is knowledgeable about the politics of Nigeria. I am confident he can lead Nigeria well if he becomes president.”
-Former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe
It was gathered that the southwest APC is positioning itself for the presidency in 2023 based on a rotational arrangement in the polity.
“At the moment, only Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and of course Tinubu, look like they want the job when it makes its way down south.
“And everyone knows that Osinbajo defers to Tinubu on all matters politics. If Tinubu wants the job, best believe Osinbajo would be stepping aside for ‘Oga’ to have a go.
“Those who say Tinubu should be content with playing the statesman or godfather role for the remainder of his years, appear to have forgotten that Tinubu schemed to be Buhari’s running mate before the 2015 presidential vote,” said a source.
Those close to the strong man of Nigerian politics revealed that it is certain that everyone would yield to him as he has paid his dues over the years and that it is now pay back time for Tinubu to reap the fruits of his labour and go to the central to control the affairs of the country.
“To state that Tinubu is great is to state the obvious, he is the greatest living Nigerian politician. He has paid his dues over the years and we are all ready to support him.
“If it is money, the resources are there for this man of means and character and I can tell you that we are ready for the candidates of other political parties, Tinubu will defeat all of them,” said a chieftain of the APC, who added that the issue of APC primaries is a forgone conclusion, “Tinubu will win unopposed.”
