22 out of the 24 members of the Enugu State House of Assembly rose from their sitting last Tuesday and resolved to serve a notice of impeachment on the state Deputy Governor, Chief Sunday Onyebuchi after leveling several allegations against him.
The lawmakers subsequently summoned him over allegations bothering on gross-misconduct, and they gave him 7 days to respond to all the allegations.
The remaining two lawmakers, supported the Deputy Governor are the Speaker of the House, Hon Eugene Odo and Hon Matthias Ekweremadu.
The embattled Deputy Governor, who is nursing a Senatorial ambition from Enugu East Senatorial Zone, got to office with Governor Chime in 2007 under the PDP.
Sources told First Weekly in Enugu last week that Onyebuchi has been served with notice of impeachment by the Clerk of the House and it was gathered that he is expected to respond to the allegations of gross-misconducts leveled against him by the lawmakers.
It will be recalled that the relationship between Governor Chime and his Deputy went bad recently, when the Enugu State Development Authority moved to destroy the poultry farm he was developing at the premises of the government house.
Reacting to the impeachment notice served on him, the Deputy Governor disclosed during a telephone interview that he was being witch-hunted because of his senatorial ambition in 2015, adding that he will accept whatever comes out of the impeachment plot in good faith
