The Kano State Government on Monday called on President Bola Tinubu to relocate the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from the state. The government stated that Bayero’s presence threatens the peace and stability of Kano.

Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam addressed the media about the ongoing chieftaincy crisis in Kano, explaining the government’s stance and the reinstatement of the 16th Emir, Sanusi. Abdussalam emphasized that the state government had not been served with a court order to maintain the status quo, noting that only the Inspector General of Police received the order, while other parties, including the Kano State Government, were not served.
He apologized on behalf of the state government to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, over claims that Ribadu provided aircraft for Bayero’s transport. Abdussalam accused members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of inciting protests over the dissolution of the emirates and Sanusi’s reinstatement.
Abdussalam expressed concern over directives from higher authorities enforcing the court order and questioned whose interests were being served. He highlighted that protests in Kano appeared to be politically motivated and called on President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, and other relevant agencies to investigate the situation and relocate Bayero from the state to ensure security.
